Mr. Slembarski
Dear Parents,
My name is Keith Slembarski. I have the tremendous privilege to be one of your child’s 6th grade teachers at Gateway Middle School. I will be teaching Social Studies to all of the 6th graders on Team Intrepid. I am also Team Leader of our academic team. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any concerns you may have this year. I am very excited to have this opportunity to make a difference in the life of your child. I have written this letter to introduce you to me and to let you know a little more about me personally and professionally. In 1995, I graduated from Bowling Green State University and have since earned my masters’ degree from BGSU as well. I continue to take classes beyond my masters’ degree so that I can continue to improve as a teacher. This year will be my 25th year of teaching at Maumee City Schools. I have spent a total of 9 years at the elementary level and this is my 16th total year at Gateway. My mission as a teacher is to provide a variety of learning experiences to inspire and motivate my students to be lifelong learners. My desire is to see these students become active citizens today and in their futures.
In my personal life, my faith is very important to me. I am active in my church in Bowling Green by being involved in children’s ministry and being on the church board. I also have a wonderful wife, Lori, and 4 children. My oldest son Joshua got married this past year and his wife is now pregnant with twins! Andrew just graduated from BGSU and is in the process of applying for medical school. Johanna is a senior at Bowling Green High School and our youngest child, Abigail, is a freshman there too. I also have 25 nieces and nephews. I am very used to being around children a lot. It makes life very fun and interesting. In my spare time, I also enjoy following sports. I am an avid Buckeyes, Indians, Cavs, and Browns fan. Hopefully this last sentence has not offended Michigan and Detroit fans too much. Anyway, it is safe to say that my faith, my family, and sports are three things that make me who I am.
To conclude this letter, I just want to say that I am excited about working with you to help your child succeed. I believe that parents and teachers need to work together in the education of children. Please don’t hesitate to call me at school (419-893-3386) or email me ([email protected]) if you have any questions or concerns. Also, our team website is at http://maumeek12intrepid.weebly.com. This website posts the nightly homework for all the classes. I want to assure you that your child’s well being is very important to me, and I will work hard to see that your child’s needs are met.
Sincerely,
Mr. Keith Slembarski
